Brierley Cubs Vs Normanton

The first football match to be played on the welfare park for a number of years saw the young Brierley team lose 3-0 to Normanton in the South Elmsall Summer league. A crowd of about 40 turned out to support the team who are coached by David Henstock. The welfare park playing field has been unfit to play on for a number of years after attempted repairs to a drainage system which runs under the ground left it in a Topsy Turvy state. The Parish council have provided the team with mobile goalposts but the pitch still leaves a lot to be desired. Man of the match for Brierley was Matthew Holdroyd. The team also played in a seven a side tournament on Sunday and finished third. The lads will play at home to South Elmsall Brookside today (Saturday).
