Regular events and meetings:

Garden and Allotment Society;

Meet the first Wednesday in every month in the Three Horse Shoes at 9pm.

Brierley Labour Party;

Meet the last Sunday in every month in Brierley Social club at 10am.

Brierley Village (Community) Partnership;

Meet every second Tuesday in the month in their offices at Brierley Hall at 7pm.

Quiz Night

Every Thursday in the three Horse Shoes starting at 9pm.

Brierley Village club.

Artistes Friday and Sunday. Bingo with cash prizes Tuesday and Thursday.

 

Social Club.

Sandra Chaplain won the £100 tote on Sunday night with winning numbers 5 and 21. Tracy Lucas won the mixed grill on Friday. The artiste tonight Friday, will be Faith Summers. On Sunday Leanne Rea will provide the entertainment. The winners of the gallon of beer draw were Spider and Wagger. Monday is games night and Tuesday and Thursday is bingo.

 

Coffee Morning

A coffee morning will be held at the Tara offices on Hillside every Tuesday morning from 10 while 12. Bingo and raffle will also be played.

 

Open Day

Members from the Spiritualist Church held an open day recently and raised over £500 for church funds. Events included, meditation, private readings, cake, handicraft and rock and crystal stalls, refreshments and lots more. The Care bear cake raffle prize is still unclaimed. The committee would like to thank all the people who assisted and those who supported the event.

 

Barn Dance

The Methodist Church will hold a Barn Dance and Barbeque at the Churchfield’s school Snydale Road Cudworth next Friday. Tickets are available by telephoning Mrs Elizabeth Hambleton on 01226 713654.

 

Primary School

Pupils will present an art exhibition for the parents on Thursday at 1pm.

 

Girls Brigade

The Girls Brigade under the leadership of Janet Baxendale will meet in the Methodist Church Hall on Monday at 7.15pm.

 

Women’s Fellowship

The guest speaker at last Wednesday’s Women’s Fellowship meeting was Miss M Haithwaite. Pianist was Mrs Margaret Watson.

 

Pop in Club

Everyone is invited for refreshments and a chat at the next ‘Pop in’ session, which will be held at the Methodist Church Hall next Thursday between 9.15 and 11.15 am.

 

Grange House

Kath Hardwick won the raffle at the social evening on Thursday while Jean Trowshaw won on Friday night. Tony Evans won Monday’s prize.

 

St Paul’s Church

Jean Johnson will read this week’s lesson at the Eucharist service on Sunday at 9am. Father John Baskerville will take the service. The Strawberry tea, which was held at Felkirk St Peter’s on Sunday, raised over £500 for church funds. The Grand Jubilee draw will take place on September 12. Tickets are available from church members.

 

History Room

The Brierley Historical Photographic Society room which is situated at the rear of Brierley Hall will be open to anyone wishing to pop in for a chat or to assist in cataloguing the archives on Monday and Wednesday morning between 10am and 12 and Thursday nights between 7pm and 9 (Jean Mann will be available to answer your Genealogy questions). If you have any old photographs or other artefacts you wish to donate to the society, or if you would like to make any enquires, please feel welcome to visit at these times.

 

Action Team for Jobs

Due to industrial action by council workers, the Action Team for Jobs will not be available on Wednesday morning.

 

THS Quiz

Geoffrey and Judith Hill were the winner of the quiz in the Three Horse Shoes on Thursday night. The Golden Girls won the nearest to question. The event is held every week and starts at 9pm.

 

Methodist Church

Mr F Bolton will take the Sunday morning family service at 10.15am and the evening service at 6pm will be taken by Miss K Megeary. On Tuesday at 7.30pm there will be a ladies recreation evening.

 

Coppins

This week’s bonus ball winner on Saturday was Tanya Leonard while Janet King won on Wednesday.

 

Skegness Trip

The Skegness trip that has been arranged by the Grange House Warden Linda Milburn will depart on Wednesday at 9.30am and will return at 6pm.

 

Spiritualist

Tonight Friday at 6pm, there will be healing in the sanctuary by trained volunteers followed at 7pm by an open circle. Sunday will be a service of hymns, prayers and clairvoyance and will be taken by Trevor Jones from Wakefield at 6pm. Next Friday at 6pm, there will be healing in the sanctuary by trained volunteers followed at 7pm by an open circle. Next Sunday Dave Rawlings from Rotherham will take the service. To ease traffic congestion on Church Street visitors are asked to use the Brierley Hall car park.
