Spiritualist Church: There will be a service on Friday from 7pm to 8pm taken by David Rawings from Sheffield. Jamie McNicholas who is also from Sheffield will take the Sunday evening service at 6pm till 7.15pm. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

Evening of Clairvoyance: There will be an evening of clairvoyance with Dina Birks from Wath at the Spiritualist Church on Wednesday 25 October.  Tickets, which are £3, are available from the church.

St Paul’s Church: On Monday 16th October there will be an evening with Ian Clayton in St Paul’s starting at 7.30pm and the churches Annual Harvest Festival will be held in Brierley Social club on Tuesday 17th October when a Miss Brierley and Grimethorpe competition will take place. Entry to the club is free but the competition entry is £2.The Sunday Mass will be at 9.30am. Daily Mass will be taken on Monday at 10am and Friday at 3pm. Father Peter Needham will conduct the services. Marriage or Baptism enquires to be made to Father Peter Needham at St Luke’s Church Grimethorpe on Friday between 6.30 and 7.15pm. Baptism and Confirmation classes have started on a Wednesday at St Luke’s. Again contact Father Peter on 01226 717561 for further details.

Ladies Recreation: There will be ladies recreation evening on Tuesday in the Methodist Church Hall at 7.30pm. Last week the ladies enjoyed a Beetle Drive.

Boys Brigade : Both the Junior Boys and Company Section will now meet on a Wednesday night in the Methodist Church Hall. The 7 to 11 year olds meeting will take place from 6.30pm till 8pm and the older boys will meet from 7pm till 9. Edwin and Elizabeth Hambleton lead the boys.

Dinner: There will be a dinner served in the Methodist Church Hall on Saturday evening at 6.30. If you wish to attend please inform Elizabeth.

Pop In: The next pop in club will be held next Thursday in the Methodist Church Hall where everyone is invited to pop in for a cup of coffee or tea and biscuits.

Outing: On the recent outing to Skipton arranged by Linda Milburn from Grange Hose, Dorothy Armitage, Christine Dransfield and Nellie Bowering all won raffle prizes.

Social club: The winner of last weeks quiz, which is held every Monday night at 8.30 was Malc Evans.

Grange House: Joyce Howell won the raffle at the Grange House social evening on Monday. On Thursday Nellie Bowering won the prize and Jenny Weldon won on Friday.

Drop In: A stop smoking drop in on a one to one basis is available to all residents from Brierley Grimethorpe and Shafton at Milefield children’s centre on Wednesday from 2.30 till 3.30.

Community Workshop: A community workshop for woodworking crafts is available in Brierley on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am till 12 and from 2 till 4. The workshop is available free for anyone to use. For further information contact John Nyland at the Brierley Grimethorpe Shafton Community Partnership on 01226 718282.

Women’s Fellowship: The ladies meet every Monday at 2pm in the Methodist Church Hall. The speaker at last weeks Fellowship was Mr E Hambleton.

Auction : Donations are still being accepted for the annual Harvest Festival charity auction, which will take place on Saturday night in Brierley Social club. If you would like to donate any item of auctionable value please contact Chris Sykes on 01226 711255 or Sandra at the club on 01226 716373. This year’s event is in aid of The Multiple Sclerosis society.

THS Quiz: There is a general knowledge quiz at the Three Horse Shoes every Thursday at 9.30pm and a music quiz on Sunday starting at 8pm. Last Thursday Mick Pointon won the quiz with 16 out of 20 and Boothy won the bottle of wine. Richard Harrison guessed the nearest too question.

Line dancing: There will be line dancing in the Methodist Church Hall tonight (Friday) and on Monday starting at 7pm. Everyone welcome.

Methodist Church: There will be a Church Anniversary service on Sunday at 10.15 led by Mr L Batty who will also take the evening service at 6pm. The welcoming stewards will be Joan in the morning and Phyllis in the evening. John and Hilary will provide the flowers. This weeks cleaning steward is Edwin.

Children’s Centre: Funding is still available for free sessions for two year olds at the Milefield Children’s centre, which caters for children from nought to five. The centre welcomes children from the Brierley, Grimethorpe and Shafton areas. For further details contact Helen Cook on 01226 715127.

Woodcarving: There are still places available for the wood carving course in Brierley, which runs on a Tuesday evening from 7pm till 9pm. For further details contact John Nyland at the Brierley Grimethorpe Shafton Community Partnership on 01226 718282

Brierley Cubs FC: In a first class performance by the under 9s in the Millennium Sunday League, Callum Shaw scored a hat trick for Brierley in a 8-1 win over Hoyland Town. The other goal scorers were Ryan Smith, McCauley Haigh, Ryan Haywood, Tyler Leese, and Hoyland scored an own goal. Jason Dench was man of the match. They will play Dearne and District in a cup match at home on Sunday kicking of at 10.30am. In the same league, the under 10s came from two goals down at Worsborough to earn a 2-2 draw with Marty Farrar and Kai Hancock scoring for Brierley with Kai’s goal coming in the last minute. They will play away to Cudworth Tykes on Sunday. In a close match against Mexborough Rangers, the under 7s were very unlucky to be defeated 3-2. Morgan Armit and Lewis Lettin-Hall scored for Brierley. The man of the match was Linden Devoy and they will play at home to Hemsworth on Sunday kick of at 10.30am.

Baipip exhibition raffle: Winning raffle numbers Green 171 and Green 136 are still waiting to be claimed, telephone Gary on 07986 492561. If they haven’t been claimed by Saturday, they will be donated to the Harvest Festival auction in Brierley Social club on that night
