Town council

There will be a Town council surgery at Ladywood School next Wednesday at 4pm. Councillors Handley and Bennet will be in attendance. Numerous activities at the Grimethorpe and Brierley Community and fitness centre will also take place next Friday including a triathlon in the gym. The events will be in aid of Children in Need.

 

Social Club

There is a quiz night every Monday in the Social Club starting at 9.30pm; last weeks winner was John Clarke. Members also enjoyed pie and peas. On 30 November there will be a curry and race night starting at 8pm. Names are now being taken for the Christmas handicaps.

 

Brierley Cubs FC

In the Sunday Millennium league, the under 10s beat Upton away from home 6-2 with Michael Shaw netting 4 goals for Brierley. The other scorers for Brierley were Kyle Dolton and Ryan Haywood.  Man of the match was Christian Ikponmvosa.

 

Spiritualist Church

There will be Healing in the Sanctuary on Friday from 6pm till 6.45 followed at 7pm, with an Open circle. Jackie Jenning from South Kirby will take the service on Sunday evening starting at 6. Refreshments will be served afterwards. On Wednesday, Anne Anderson from Retford will lead an evening of Clairvoyance special starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from the church price £2. On Wednesday 4 December there will be a further clairvoyance special and Christmas buffet. Julie Winfield will lead the service and tickets from the church are £3.50

 

St Paul’s

There will be a mass on Friday at 3pm and on Sunday a mass with hymns at 9.30am. On Monday there will be amass at 10am. Parish office for Baptism & Weddings are on Friday Evening at St Luke's Vicarage, Grimethorpe between 6.30pm and 7.15pm. Contact Father Peter Needham on 01226 717561.

Women’s Fellowship

The Fellowship meeting takes place on a Monday at 2pm at the Methodist Church. The speaker last week was Mr W Marsden.

Ladies Recreation

The Ladies from the Methodist Church hold a recreation evening every Tuesday at 7.30pm. Last week the ladies enjoyed a Beetle Drive.

 

Pop In

The next Pop in morning at the Methodist church will take place on Thursday from 9.15 am till 11.15. Everyone is invited to pop in for tea, coffee and biscuits and a chat. Proceeds are towards church funds.

 

Methodist Church

Mr E Hambleton will lead a Remembrance service on Sunday morning at 10.15am.The evening service at 6 will be taken by M J Sawyer. Pam and Ray will provide this weeks flowers. The welcoming steward will be Joan in the morning and Richard in the evening.

 

Boys Brigade

Both the Junior Boys and Company Section meetings take place on Wednesday night in the Methodist Church Hall. The 7 to 11 year olds meeting will take place from 6.30pm till 8pm and the older boys will meet from 7pm till 9. Edwin and Elizabeth Hambleton lead the boys.

 

Line Dancing

Line dancing will take place every Monday and Friday in the Methodist Church Hall at 7pm. Entry is £2.50.

 

Grange House

At the Grange House social evenings last week, Joyce Howell won the raffle on Monday while Audrey Marsh won on Thursday. Hilda Hall won on Friday

 

Three Horse Shoes

There is a quiz night at the Three Horse Shoes on a Thursday at 9.30pm and on Sunday at 8pm there is a music, conundrum and general knowledge quiz. On Sunday Debbie won the quiz and Sandra Price won the conundrum. The head to head was not won and will be for £50 next week. The winner of the quiz on Thursday was Ross, Andy and Neil while G Fab won the conundrum. The Smifffs guessed the nearest too question.
