Fire at Brierley Hall

A fire started at the boarded up Brierley Hall grade 2 listed building on Tuesday morning. The fire started around 7.30am and is thought to have been contained to one room. Original wood panelling had been stolen from the room before the fire started. Church Street was closed off until well into the evening while fire crews made the building safe. The hall and surrounding land is for sale by auction this month when it is expected to be sold for property development.
