Demolition at Brierley Hall started last Friday 13 March see stories

 

Grange House

At the social evening on Friday Nellie Bowering won the raffle while Audrey Marsh won on Monday. Jean Crowshaw won on Thursday.  There is a clothing party arranged for Wednesday at 10.30am. The proceeds will be towards a trip to Bakewell that will take place on the 19 May and will be adults only. Spare tickets will be available.

 

Methodist Church

The Mothering Sunday service at 10.15am will be a Family and sacrament service taken by the Reverend T Jones. The welcoming steward will be Jean who will also provide the flowers. There will be a karate class on Monday at 7pm and on Thursday and Friday the majorettes will meet at 4.30pm.

 

Three Horse Shoes

There is a quiz night at the Three Horse Shoes on a Thursday at 9.30pm and on Sunday at 8pm there is a music, conundrum and general knowledge quiz. On Thursday The Dan won the quiz and G Fab won the nearest too question. James won the bottle of wine. S Talk won the quiz on Sunday while Les Parry won the conundrum. The Head to head was not won and will be for £30 next week.

 

Women’s Institute

The next meeting of the newly formed WI will be on Tuesday 8 April at 1.30 in the Methodist Church Hall. The ladies will then meet once a month but times may vary.

 

Pop In

The next meeting of the Pop in club that is held at the Methodist church Hall will be on Thursday from 9.15am till 11am. Everyone is invited to pop in for tea, coffee, biscuits and a chat. Proceeds will be towards Church funds.

Spiritualist Church

On Friday at 6 there will be Healing in the Sanctuary followed at 7 with an Open circle. A demonstration of mediumship taken by Joanne Huckett from Doncaster will take place on Sunday at 6pm. The following Sunday it will be taken by David Pinch from Doncaster. Refreshments will be served after each service.

 

Village club

There is a quiz night every Monday starting at 9pm. Last week the winner was Paul Round.

 

Boys Brigade

Both the Junior Boys and Company Section meetings will take place in the Methodist Church Hall on Wednesday. The 7 to 11 year olds meeting will take place from 6.30pm till 8pm and the older boys will meet from 7pm till 9. Edwin and Elizabeth Hambleton lead the boys.

 

Brierley Cubs FC

In the Sunday Millennium league the under 11s played away to Mexborough Rangers and lost 4-0. The man of the match for Brierley was Michael Shaw. They don’t have a match this Sunday.

 

Women’s Fellowship

The women’s fellowship meets in the Methodist Church every Monday at 2pm. Last week the ladies visited the Salvation Army at Hemsworth for a Women’s fellowship Rally.

 

Pool

In the Smithies Wednesday night pool league, the team played away to New Lodge A and lost 4-3. Winning players for Brierley were Graham Hotchins, Darron Kearford and Ben Johnson. The team will play away to Ashfield WMC next week.

 

Town Council

The next meeting of Brierley Town council will be in the Methodist Church Hall on Tuesday at 7pm.
