Spiritualist Church

There will be Healing in the church by approved healers tonight from 6 till 6.45pm followed at 7pm with an open circle.  There will be a demonstration of mediumship on Sunday from 6pm till 7.15pm and it will be taken by Leigh and Stephen Bacon from Barnsley. The rest of the demonstrators for November will be, Danny Lewis from Sheffield and Sheila Chalkley from Royston. On the 28 November there will be a crafts and private readings day from 11am till 4pm and on Tuesday 8 December there will be a buffet and a demonstration of mediumship taken by Julie Winfield from 7 till 8pm.

Town Council

The next meeting is on Tuesday 24 November at 6pm in the Council Chambers Grimethorpe. The pantomime Robin Hood will be coming to the Welfare hall Grimethorpe on Sunday 13 December.  If residents of Brierley are interested, the Town clerk Jan Cooper is willing to run the Brierley Buzzer to bring people down for the show. Father Christmas will be doing his rounds on 19 and 20 December.

Boys Brigade

Both the Junior Boys and Company Section meetings will take place in the Methodist Church Hall. The 7 to 11 year olds meeting will take place from 6.30pm till 8pm and the older boys will meet from 7pm till 9. Edwin and Elizabeth Hambleton lead the boys.

Women’s Institute

The next meeting will take place in the Methodist Church on Wednesday 13 December.

Pop In

The next meeting of the Pop in club that is held at the Methodist church Hall will be on Thursday 28 November from 9.15am till 11am. Everyone is invited to pop in for tea, coffee, biscuits and a chat. Proceeds will be towards Church funds.

Three Horse Shoes

There is a quiz night at the Three Horse Shoes on a Thursday at 9.30pm and on Sunday at 8pm there is a music, conundrum and general knowledge quiz. On Sunday Us Lot won the quiz while Jamie, Matthew and Sarah came second. Us Lot won the conundrum. The head to head was not won and will be for £135 next week. CMP won the quiz on Thursday while the Dead Heads won the nearest too question and a bottle of wine. Congratulations to James Hardwick who has reached the last 32 of the John Smiths people darts championship. Tonight’s entertainment will be provided by Jo-Ann

Methodist Church

The children’s Jam club will be at 10.30am on Sunday morning and the service at 10.15am will be a Holy Communion service led by the Rev G McIntosh. The welcoming steward will be Edwin Hambleton and Andrea, Nigel and Amber Wooton will provide the flowers. There is a karate club on Monday and Thursday at 7pm and the majorettes meet on Thursday and Friday at 4.30pm. A Bible study will take place in the medical centre on Church Drive on Thursday at 7pm. On Saturday 28 November at 2pm there will be a fashion show and models are required, please contact Edwin Hambleton. The proceeds will be in aid of church funds.

Grange House

The warden Linda Millburn has arranged a Christmas Fayre that will take place on Tuesday 24 November between 10.30am and 12 noon.

Village club

There is a quiz night every Monday starting at 9pm.The winner last week was Philip Illingworth.

Women’s Fellowship

The next women’s fellowship in the Methodist Church Hall will be on Monday 23 November at 2pm. Last week the speaker was Edwin Hambleton.
