Spiritualist Church

There will be Healing in the church by approved healers tonight from 6 till 6.45pm followed at 7pm with a demonstration of mediumship that will be taken by David Rawlings from Dinnington.  There will be a further demonstration of mediumship this Sunday from 6pm till 7.15pm and it will be taken by Gary Robinson from Normanton. The rest of the demonstrators for November will be Leigh and Stephen Bacon from Barnsley, Danny Lewis from Sheffield and Sheila Chalkley from Royston. On the 28 November there will be a crafts and private readings day from 11am till 4pm.

 

Grange House

The warden Linda Millburn has arranged a Christmas Fayre that will take place on Tuesday 24 November between 10.30am and 12 noon. At the social evening on Friday, Margaret Burton won the raffle while Doreen Smith won on Monday. Audrey Marsh claimed Friday’s prize.

 

Village club

There is a quiz night every Monday starting at 9pm.The winner last week was Philip Illingworth. The draw has been made for the Graham’s Taxi knockout Shield and is as follows, Paul vs Ada, John B vs Dale C, Johnny vs B Lucas, Kenny C vs Malc E, Conny vs Mark W, Chas vs Becky and S Kennedy vs Graham H. The draw for the darts is K Clarke vs Fred C, Johnny vs S Kennedy, Dale W vs Ben, Ada vs Mark, Dale C vs John B and Conny vs Becky. Snooker M Evans vs Chas, Paul vs Dale W, Mark vs Dale C, Johnny vs John B, Fred C vs Kenny C and S Kennedy vs Ada. Dominoes Becky vs Sue, Chas vs Fred C, Dale vs Ada, John B vs Dale C, Conny vs Sheila and Mark vs Diane. The semi final of the table bowls has already been reached and the draw is as follows, Becky vs John B and Paul vs Ben.

 

Three Horse Shoes

There is a quiz night at the Three Horse Shoes on a Thursday at 9.30pm and on Sunday at 8pm there is a music, conundrum and general knowledge quiz. On Sunday Shy Talk won the quiz while Jo won the conundrum. The head to head was not won and will be for £125 next week. Arise sir Timmy won the quiz on Thursday while the Cauldron corner won the nearest too question. Marie, Ruth, Tracy and Donna won a bottle of wine.

 

Boys Brigade

Both the Junior Boys and Company Section meetings will take place in the Methodist Church Hall. The 7 to 11 year olds meeting will take place from 6.30pm till 8pm and the older boys will meet from 7pm till 9. Edwin and Elizabeth Hambleton lead the boys.

Methodist Church

On Saturday the  Autumn Fayre will take place at 3pm and will be opened by Mrs Phyllis Holling and will include teas, usual stalls, competitions, games and fellowship. The Sunday morning service at 10.15am will be a Remembrance service led by Eddie Hambleton followed by the laying of the wreaths at the memorial at St Paul’s church. Their will be refreshments in the chapel afterwards. The welcoming steward will be Jean Ray and Pam Fewster will provide the flowers. In the evening there will be a circuit service at Emmanuel church in Barnsley. There is a karate club on Monday and Thursday at 7pm and the majorettes meet on Thursday and Friday at 4.30pm. A Bible study will take place in the medical centre on Church Drive on Thursday at 7pm.  Next Sunday morning there will be a communion service led by the Rev G McIntosh.

 

Bollinbroke House

Father Peter Needham will lead a service for the residents and staff on Wednesday.

 

Women’s Institute

The next meeting will take place in the Methodist Church on Wednesday.

 

Auction

The date has been set for the Brierley and its people in photographs annual charity auction that is held in the Three Horse Shoes every year. It will be on Monday 14 December and this year will be in aid of Brierley Cubs FC where over 60 players between the ages of 6 and 13 are involved. Entertainment will be provided by Stu’s disco and there will be prizes for fancy dress with this year’s theme being cowboys and Indians. There is also fun and games with last man standing and spin the wheel. The evening starts at 8pm.

 

Brierley Cubs FC

In the Charles Rice Sunday league, the under 11s cup match was called off. They will take on North Gawber in a cup match away from home on Sunday kicking off at 11am.

 

Women’s Fellowship

The women’s fellowship meet in the Methodist Church Hall on Monday’s at 2pm.

 

Pop In

The next meeting of the Pop in club that is held at the Methodist church Hall will be on Thursday from 9.15am till 11am. Everyone is invited to pop in for tea, coffee, biscuits and a chat. Proceeds will be towards Church funds.
