At a meeting of the Brierley Historic Photographic Society
on Monday May 20 2002, Billy and Yvonne Bates, Joan
Gomersall and Paula Hutley, were co-opted onto the
management committee. There are two spare places available
for the informal genealogy class, which will start on
Thursday night June 13 at 7pm. The course will be taken by
Jean Mann from Grimethorpe and will be for members of the
society who will meet every two weeks. The course is free to
anyone wishing to become a society member. Membership is £1
per year to cover administration costs. The society is also
seeking any residents who have a little spare time on their
hands to volunteer their services in cataloguing the
material already in the archives. If you would like to
become a member or you would like to volunteer your services
you can call in the society’s meeting room at the rear of
Brierley Hall The society will be holding a raffle starting
on June 10. Tickets will be available from 9am till 12noon
Monday to Friday in the post office where the society will
also be putting a number of old photographs on show.
Subscriptions are now due for the year 2002/03 |
There is at least 6-12 months work before we are in a
position to open the archive room to the public, but
this is one aim of the society. If you live local and
feel you can assist us with any of our work, or if you
just fancy popping in to look at us and have a cuppa,
please feel welcome. |
To avoid confusion, can we explain that BAIPIP will
remain the name of the work we do under the Brierley
Historic Photographic Society.
