Roy
& Jean Berridge
On June 21st
1991, Sam Smith’s brewery decided to close Brierley Social club for a
major refurbishment. The club reopened on 7 December that year under the
tenancy of Roy and Jean who had previously been the steward and stewardess
of the Top club in South
Hiendley. Roy and Jean provided the lifeline that the club needed as
membership rose and ex patriots of the club started using the
establishment once again. On 6 December 1999, Roy and Jean, after eight
successful years at the club retired to Shafton and the Brewery decided to
hand over the management of the club to Joe Minnock and his partner Lynn.
Joe had worked for Roy and Jean as bar manager so it seemed the ideal
choice
