Woodward in the freezer room
Eddie
married Nellie who was the adopted daughter to Danny Oates the
well-known local ice-cream manufacturer who worked from Fidling farm on
Church Street. After their marriage they had a house and ice-cream
factory built on the farm where they started to manufacture and sell
their ice cream under the name Its Danny's. Their ice cream won many
diplomas. Their twin sons' Danny and David were the last to manufacture
and sell the ice cream when production stopped in the 1990s.

and Nellie Woodward
Nellie
was the adopted daughter to Danny Oates the well-known local ice-cream
manufacturer who worked from Fidling farm on Church Street. She married
Eddie and they had a house and ice-cream factory built on the farm where
they started to manufacture and sell their ice cream under the name Its
Danny's. Their ice cream won many diplomas. Their twin sons' Danny and
David were the last to manufacture and sell the ice cream when
production stopped in the 1990s. Sadly Eddie, Nellie and their son David
have passed on. Eddie is seen wearing the Policeman's helmet of his
son-in-law Des Columbine who married their daughter Kathleen.
I personally worked for Eddie and Nellie on a number of occasions
'hawking' their ice cream. There was always a bacon butty and a cup of
tea for the drivers on a Sunday morning. I can honestly say they were
two of the nicest, hard working people I have ever had the privilege to
meet and work for
