Mr and Mrs Sam Milner and family

The information I have on this photograph is that it was taken in the backs of the family home, which is stated as the house next to the church. I am presuming the information means the now demolished Fieldhead House as the house that stands derelict next to the church today (June 2005) had not built in the early 1900s. Mr Milner was the head gardener at Brierley Hall.

Hull and Barnsley railway

The Hull and Barnsley railway crossed the last line of Pennine foothills at Brierley in a mile long tunnel. The Hemsworth bypass now obliterates the railway line. If you follow the footpath going of to the left at the side of the roundabout coming out of Brierley, you can still see this bridge although the view is from about 20 feet above and is overgrown. (August 2005).

This photograph was received by email hence poor quality.
