Circa early 1960s

The Knight family Blackpool

Margaret and Phillip are at the back of the photograph with left to right Michael, Catherine and Mary at the front. Margaret married our local Mp Jeff Ennis. Michael tragically died while serving in the Royal Navy. The family originated from Grimethorpe but they all now live in Brierley. Their parents are Martin and Elsie Knight who live on Grange Road (September 2005).

The cart is seen here after a full restoration in the 1970s. David Pritchard, a farmer from Hatfield in Doncaster, now owns it (September 2005).

Frickley Bridge Lane

Dennis Turner who lived at 17 Hilltop who is seen here as a young boy sat on the fence and Alex Draper who lived at 16 Hilltop. Dennis tells me that Alex’s father was the only person on Hilltop to own a car at this time. It was a three-wheeler ‘Morgan’.
